How it works:

Blocks an inflammation causing substance, interleukin

Dosage Form: Tablet SQ injection - 100mg/0.67mL

Common Usage: Rheumatoid arthritis

Precautions:

Pregnancy

Until additional data are available, anakinra is not currently recommended for the treatment of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases during pregnancy. Anakinra should be discontinued once pregnancy is confirmed

Lactation

According to the manufacturer, the decision to breastfeed during therapy should consider the risk of infant exposure, the benefits of breastfeeding to the infant, and the benefits of treatment to the mother.

Warnings

"Contraindicated: Hypersensitivity to E coli-derived proteins Warnings: Hypersensitivity reactions, concomitant use with TNF blocking agents, do not give with live vaccines"
