How it works:
Binds to the 30S and 50S ribosomal units of bacteria to inhibit protein synthesis
Dosage Form: Tablet Capsule - 50mg, 75mg, 100mg, 150mg , Tablets - 20mg, 50mg, 75mg, 100mg, 150mg , Tablets (DR) - 50mg, 60mg, 75mg, 100mg, 120mg, 150mg, 200mg , Capsule (DR) - 40mg , IV - 100mg , Oral suspension - 25mg/5ml , Syrup - 50mg/5ml , Periodontal ER liquid - 10%
Common Usage: Bacterial infections - commonly urinary tract infection (UTI), community acquired pneumonia, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)
Precautions:
Pregnancy
There are no adequate and well-controlled studies on the use of doxycycline in pregnant women
Lactation
Because of the potential for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants from doxycycline, a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother
Warnings
Contraindicated: Hypersensitivity ; Warnings: Teeth discoloration in children less than 8 years old, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, photosensitivity, Overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
