How it works:
Sulforaphane is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound known to inhibit the effects of pro-inflammatory molecules. It is also neuroprotective, meaning that it has protective effects on the nervous system, which includes the brain and spinal cord. As a known anti-cancer agent, sulforaphane reduces the effect of oxidative stress on the body’s cells, which also serves to inhibit inflammatory activity. Sulforaphane inhibits the cytokines involved in the cytokine storm of COVID-19, which is linked to Long COVID.
Dosage Form: Tablet Oral (via supplement or via food intake)
Common Usage: Fight inflammation
Precautions:
Pregnancy
Sulforaphane is safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding when consumed in whole foods sources such as through broccoli, which is the vegetable with the highest levels of the compound. There isn’t enough data on sulforaphane supplements during breastfeeding and pregnancy, so it is best to avoid the supplement version.
